The lone wolf complex, or the lonely warriors.
Authentic qi gong practise may be deep and demanding, many times rewarding, other times challenging but what is absolutely sure it is not a competition. We do not have to compete with ourselves, as it is meaningless, and rather we do not need to compete with others either in it. As it is impossible. And lately we do not need to compete and win any other persons attention, any more in qi gong. As cultivation of Qi and qi gong practise cannot be compared.
Ease into a long attentive process. Probably life long, and several life long for the dedicated practitioners who entered the stream once.
As the competition erase from us, regarding qi gong practise, it teaches us, how to rely on a center, an independent one. When all personal attention seeking, rewarding and comparing also erase. Realize how this certain tension dissolved, when we understand it.
Intention of this post to help those feel tension to prove with their practise, or expect certain things. As it is a remaining on old pattern, of rewarding system. In qi gong such measurement is not existing. Art is how to eliminate the problematic part and still naturally practise hard, probably for different reasons = transformation.
Here is my coming out and personal experience for transparency:
– coming from high performance sports, i started nei gong with these:
1) I will show them how awesome my progress is in nei gong. I will build this quicker than anyone and achive that quicker than anyone.
– today i need to laugh at what, did I think who are those “them”… they still never showed up. Congratulating me for my big results, haha
+ i realized, that very healthily noone cared.
2) I will show my teacher , how awesome student I am, i will practise extra hard, as I learned i will be valued by results i come up with. Well, it is my nature to work on tings i care about 100% but defenitely i was expecting delusionally certain things.
– this is partially very true, hard working in itself has the reward, and has coonsqueces. But, I was very wrong in trying to prove so hard, and base my confidence on it and measure myself accordingly. Hard work in qi gong builds confidence, but it is mainly from competence.
The old pattern is that we learned to work sometimes extra hard, be extra hard on ourselves as our belief we are accepted only than. So in qi gong not knowing we have this pattern with us, expecting imagined results, for imagined rewarding- probably in future always.
Give a little break, stay inspired ( for me it is my teacher, my fellow practitioners, and usually anyone say or do something awesome for me, sometimes very little ), but drop this coercion, and open space up for the unknown. I am aware it may seem scary first.
Sorry my bad news, it is illogical for a qi gong practitioner to decide where they are, as we go toward unkown by study, hance the meaning of study. And we are bad at it first, naturally. My own example is perfect for this, teacher proved how many times i was clueless… ever gratful for that.
Is this topic of any interest, as I thought with a few people we could open this topic up in a recorded discussion format?
